First of all, what is the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream?
It is “a cream that helps calm & strengthen barriers in extremely sensitive skin… used with the soothing line, it works rapidly to soothe and regulate irritated (by heat or sebum), stressed skin.” It is basically a cream to relieve irritated skin made specially for people with sensitive and easily damaged skin.
Its main ingredients are Guaiazulene, which gives it its blue color, for calming irritation, and Centella Asiatica extract to help regeneration and prevent scarring.
How did I use it?
I used the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream as an after-hair removal treatment, an after-exfoliation treatment, to calm angry bumps and whiteheads on my face, and to relieve hives.
I have dry and sensitive skin that is prone to allergies, but not prone to acne. Because of this, I did not have much of a chance to try it on calming acne. However, I especially enjoyed it as an after-shave and after-exfoliation treatment! I have just started to shave my face so this was perfect as a calming cream after. When I didn’t have this yet, I used aloe vera and that helped but it couldn’t completely calm my skin. I would still get some redness and it would feel sticky if I put too much. With the midnight blue calming cream, it immediately relieves the razor burn feeling afterwards with no stickiness, itchiness, or pain. I noticed that I got bumps on areas I neglected to put it on like near my eyebrows while I didn’t see any signs of bumps and irritation on areas I applied it on like my cheeks and sideburns! And one time I plucked my eyebrows and forgot to apply it after, I got a huge swollen bump right the next day near my eyelid. It hurt really bad! I applied it twice a day for two days (and it immediately relieved the pain somewhat) and by the 3rd day it had gone completely, leaving only a tiny dry patch where it used to be. In comparison, I have had bumps on less sensitive areas on my face that would leave dark scars that take weeks to disappear!
I also use it all over my face after micro-exfoliating with a stringent solution. I use Maxipeel Zero to microexfoliate whenever I have spots or pimples and it’s quite strong and irritating. I would follow it up with a thin layer of the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream all over my face and it would make my skin feel luxuriously soft and supple. I wouldn’t even use moisturizer afterwards anymore, but I know I’m supposed to. It’s just that I’m very lazy. 😂 But even so, I would wake up the next day with soft skin and no peeling!
I also used it to relieve hives on my legs once. It IMMEDIATELY relieved the itching on that area even without taking my anti-histamine! I know it worked there because the other spots where I did not apply it did not calm down until I took my medicine.
Overall, I have to say I absolutely love it even if I don’t have much acne to use it on because there are so many uses for it for someone with my kind of lifestyle and skin conditions. I especially love that it doesn’t dry out my face but somehow it still dries out the bumps. You can even use it under makeup to protect your irritated skin!
So — is it worth it?
Yes, only if you have troubles with redness, irritation from hair removal, allergies, sunburn, and non-cystic acne. But if you already have dry or normal skin that is not prone to any irritation or redness, I’m afraid you won’t find a use for it.
