10 Products You Need to Stay Beautiful in the Philippine Weather

1) A lip protectant and treatment cream:

As an everyday lip balm, I typically use Carmex and Sebamed to protect my lips but as a treatment before sleeping, I always use either the Erborian Lip Doudoune (don’t ask me how to pronounce that either!) or the Nuxe Reve De Miel stick. I absolutely swear by the Erborian lip treatment as it relieves my lips like no other when I have windburn.

2) Sunscreen:

Sunscreen is definitely a must everyday most especially with the intense heat we get here in the Philippines but it’s a struggle to find one that feels lightweight. I recommend these three options because they feel the most light out of the ones I’ve tried: Natura Organics Revive Day Serum Sunblock (SPF50), SkinAZ White Angel Sun Sherbet (SPF50), and the regular NON-MATTE Celeteque Suncare (SPF15).

3) The L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation:

This foundation is lightweight yet bulletproof. Watch and read my review & wear test here.

4) Gel moisturizer:

Gel-type moisturizers are lightweight and non-sticky which make them appropriate for our weather. Cream and oil moisturizers are more appropriate for cooler days or at night before sleeping. They also usually work well under makeup or sunscreen. Cream and oil moisturizers can work very well too but it usually needs more knowledge on ingredients that work well for you as these can more easily clog your pores.

My recommendations are the Celeteque Facial Moisturizer with Triple Moisturizing System for a very lightweight feel that’s safe for oily, sensitive skin. If you are oily and acne-prone, I also recommend the Celeteque Acne Clearing Facial Moisturizer Gel. If you are more on the drier side and need a heavier gel-type moisturizer, I recommend Banila co. Miss Water & Mr. Oil as you get both water and oil in gel form.

Pro tip: Store moisturizers in the fridge to soothe and reduce puffiness.

5) Waterproof, Smudge-proof, Life-proof mascara:

I love many mascaras but I only have two that I consider life-proof: the Maybelline Hypercurl Volume Express and the Happy Skin At Long Lash mascaras. For someone who suffers with allergic rhinitis and severely dry eyes, I rely on these two when I know I’m gonna be braving the Manila heat. The Maybelline mascara is more curling and volumizing while the Happy Skin one is super-lengthening and feathery.

6) The Colourette Colourtint Intense Blend Lip & Cheek Oils:

These tints have intense pigment and ultra-blendability, yet they stay on ALL DAY. Believe me, I’ve tried the Benefit Benetint and Cha Cha Tint, and these Colourette tints are even better when it comes to pigment, blendability, and staying power at just an eighth of their price! The only downside to these tints is having to shake them up every time you put them on, but who cares about that when they perform even better than high-end tints?! Read my review and watch them in action here.

7) The EB Advance LTD Liquid Lipsticks

These are seriously one of the best liquid lipsticks I’ve ever tried. The formula of these local liquid lipsticks is just as good as the Colourpop Ultra Satin’s and almost as good as the Ofra Long-lasting Liquid Lipsticks but they seriously need more shades!

Granted there are several shades missing in my arm swatch, but they still need to make more of this!

I would just stay away from one shade that’s patchy: Fire Opal.

8) A gentle pH-balanced gel cleanser for frequent face washing:

Throughout the day you definitely feel like washing your face more than just once in the morning and once at night with our weather but you know frequent face washing strips your skin of its natural oils. That’s why we all need a gentle facial cleanser that’s pH-balanced, non-lathering, and hydrating to keep you fresh-faced the entire day. I recommend the Physiogel Dermo-Cleanser line. I use this everyday as a morning/noon/afternoon/anytime cleanse when I’m itchy and sweaty and just need to wash my face! Don’t expect this to be deep-cleansing though. The gentle nature of this product is just to keep you clean and hydrated.

9) An itch relief/skin relief cream:

With mosquitoes and ants and dust and heat and humidity everywhere, I bet I’m not the only one who always gets rashes, allergies, bug bites, and windburn all the time right?! If you don’t have a soothing ointment in your purse all the time, you need one. We have all variants of Katinko: stick, tub, ointment, pot. But there are also natural alternatives like Human Nature Soothing Balm and the Bohol Bee Farm balm. I also like the Oryspa balms (not pictured).

For ANY irritation on sensitive areas like your face and underarms, I recommend the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream. Read my review here.

10) A silicone exfoliating pad:

I’ve tried clay masks, micro-exfoliating liquids, and the usual facial brushes but when I added this one product to my skin care routine, it finally rid me of the whiteheads and flaky skin on the tip of my nose and the middle of my nostrils! I don’t use it everyday, just like you’re not supposed to exfoliate your face everyday, but using this twice a week along with clay masks and micro-exfoliating has definitely helped keep my nose free of stubborn bumps and flakes. I am not willing to live without it anymore! I got mine from Watsons.

Hope you enjoy my recommendations! Until next time,

Cybelle
